Fire rated roller shutters are designed to contain and prevent the spreading of fire for a specified period of time: 30, 60, 120, or 240 minutes. Often they are remote operated by the building's fire alarm system or stand-alone smoke and heat detectors, to provide compartmentalisation and radial heat protection of areas which are of fire risk. Where radial heat protection is required, Kirk Craig Ltd. can also offer a radiation shielding fire roller shutter with irradiance of 2.7lW/m2, available with a maximum surface area of 50m2.
Specified to meet your site's requirements, our KC Fire Rated Rollers Shutters are available in a wide range of powder coat colours, so your roller shutter can be easily integrated into the surroundings of your building.
KC Fire Rated Roller Shutters can be available for apertures up to 7m wide x 7m high, fitted with audio-visual warning panels, with battery back up options for events of power loss, and with the option to enhance with additional safety features.
Fire Rated Roller Shutters installed by Kirk Craig Ltd. are available are Third-Party Tested and approved to BS EN16034:2014 & BS EN 13241:2003 +A1. and certified by Warringtonfire's Certifire Scheme.

Included Safety Features & Operation
Audio-Visual Warning Panel
The Audio-Visual Warning Panel is fitted to KC Fire Rated Roller Shutters to provide a time delay from receipt of a signal from the fire alarm system, and to provide an audible and visual warning that the roller shutter is going to close. This safety feature is important to provide notice to individuals in the vicinity of the roller shutter that it is going to close.
Battery Back -Up System
A Battery Back-Up System is fitted to KC Fire Rated Roller Shutters to ensure that the roller shutter operates, to provide fire integrity in an emergency even if there is power loss to the building.
